Individualist Surplus Identity Above Race

Race is a social, cultural and political construct. This is where certain biological traits are arbitrarily selected as identifiers and signifiers of racial identity, imposed both internally and externally. Since humans’ primary sense is vision, these arbitrarily selected shared differences are mainly initiated and reproduced by this visual primary sensory information. Racial identity can be forged through a connection to the struggles and achievements of one’s more immediate ancestors. These connections to immediate ancestors may be tied to geographic location(s) and/or nationhood(s). If someone has a success, it is not because of their race, but rather because of their individuality of which race may be a part; individuality produces a surplus supra to internally and/or externally applied racial taxonomy – as it manifests and is socially sanctioned. To make an analogy: compassion is a part of knowledge ‘just as’ race is a part of individuality.
